Urban Farming is an industry that produces, process and market not only food but fuel as well to respond to daily demands of residents from within the city or metropolis.  Urban Farming is actually using and reusing city resources for better health and nutrition, food security and improved economy. Urban Farming applies intensive methods to revert urban wastes to positive mediums to help production of diversified urban crops.

City governments adopting Urban Farming methods have gone to the extent of establishing community-based farming projects, constructing stacked greenhouses, collectively-tending community farms on common land and providing small loans and donating seedlings necessary to start with on pay later plans to help families grow crops to generate not only larger income by allowing them to sell excess produce to local grocers or outdoor markets but also provide their own homes with a good supply of fresh produce and fresh nutritional benefits. Without help from the city government, environmental benefits cannot be achieved or will be impossible to achieve on a city-wide scale.
